Jesus and John the Baptist were both born by the will and plan of God for the purpose of salvation. John the Baptist was born to Elizabeth who wanted children, but was unable. However, in her old age her womb was opened and she gave birth to a son who wound be the proclaimer of preparation for the Messiah. Jesus was born to a young virgin who by faith accepted the role and responsiblity of delivering and raising a son, called Jesus, who would one day be raised up to be the deliverer of those who had faith in Him.
