Who We Are

The Royal Oak church of Christ is not another denomination. In fact, we are an autonomous Bible centered, Christ honoring, and God glorifying body of believers. We are seeking not to build our own church, nor a congregation that is established by a preacher, pastor or other religious leader. Instead, we seek to restore the church that Jesus built two thousand years ago. Jesus said that He would build His church (Matthew 16:13-20).  Upon the authority of Christ and the promise He made, we serve in His kingdom upon the earth, which is His Church.

With this in mind our only textbook is the Bible, our simple creed is the Word of God, our single source for research is the Holy Scriptures, our only statement of faith is the God’s will as revealed through the written Word. At Royal Oak we believe that when we are united upon the eternal Word of God, we will truly become the church that Jesus established (John 17:20-21).  We follow the eternal plan of God regarding the process of becoming and living as a child of God. We worship God as He has authorized and seek to do His will on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10).

All that we practice in our worship, the lessons we teach, the life that we live is based upon the Bible. We extend freedom to everyone where there is opinion, but expect brotherly love, honor, kindness and respect by each member to one another. Our desire is to be the church which Jesus established who continually devoted themselves to the apostles teaching (which is now the Biblical record), the fellowship, breaking of bread and prayer (Acts 2:42).

Our desire is to fulfill the Great Commandment which is to “Love the Lord with all of our heart, all of our soul, all of our mind and all of our strength; and to love our neighbor as ourselves.” (Mark 12:29-31) One of the ways we fulfill the Great Command is to personally accept the Great Commission which Jesus gave to His followers: “Go, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20).  We focus our time, talents, energy, money, training and life to fulfill His purpose and plan as individuals and collectively as His body.

We invite you to join us for worship and examine for yourself if indeed we are Christ’s Church. We do not claim to be perfect nor to know all the answers. Yet we do make it our ambition to love, honor, serve and please our loving Father in all things. If you have questions or comments about the Royal Oak church of Christ or if we can help you know God’s will for your life, please contact us. We would love to help you in any way we can.
