Jesus told a parable in Matthew 25 to show that we must care for those who are destitute. In Jesus day and through the Old Testament these were often refered to as the widow, orphan and stranger or foreigner.  We are told to care for those who are unable to care for themselves. We in America, have an over abundance of shelter, food, clothing and accessories.  Jesus wants us to share our wealth with those who have nothing.  Orphan's Lifeline is a Church of Christ organization that helps the very poor in several nations of the world.  We want to encourage our members to be involved in sharing their plenty with those in need.
