If we want to grow closer to the Lord, we need people in our lives who can encourage us when we are down, rejoice with us when life is good, challenge us when we are wandering and confront us when we sin. David had a Jonathan who sacrificed his own agenda, future and family for the man of God. David also had a Nathan who was willing to speak to David about his sin in order that he might return to a healthy relationship with the Lord. We need at least one person who will be a friend to our soul and seek our spiritual life, health and success.
