School kids know that there will be an exam at the end of the semester. Teachers give suprise quizes and scheduled chapter tests along the way so that the student know how well they are doing in learning, understanding, retaining and recalling the course material. Often a large portion of the grade depend on the final exam. You don't want to get to the end unprepared. Or worse, thinking you know the material when you really don't.  In a similar way God allows us to go through times of testing are various points in this life so we will be ready for the final "judgment day".  God wants us all to pass from this life into His heavenly home which is being prepared right now. Are you ready for that day, because it might be today.
