The great prophet Elijah was about to leave this world and leave his ministry to his disciple, Elisha. This young apprentice left his family, friends, business, and future behind, going so far as to burn the plows and kill the oxen which fed the people as he celebrated his new venture. Elijah had done a lot of great things, including some amazing miracles by the hand of Almighty God. Elisha asks for a double portion so that he could faithfully continue with the work of calling people back to the Lord. In fact, Elisha did twice as many miracles as Elijah which had a great influence on the people of Israel.
