Jesus spoke 7 statements when He was on the cross. One was “I thirst” because after many hours without water and enduring so much torture and abuse He was drained. Thirst also associated with emotional and spiritual emptiness and desire. In the Old Testament God brought drought on the land as consequence and sign of the people’s empty and parched spiritual condition. Jesus has come to give us living water that flows from within.
