John the Baptist preached that there were fruits of repentance that were necessary to show that a real conversion had taken place. Confession and baptism were not enough to make the transformation complete. Paul when discussing the need for godly repentance and not just worldly sorrow, detailed seven traits of repentance in 2 Corinthians 7. Repentance is not a despised duty but a welcome gift from the grace of God.
