Moving from Bethlehem to Moab was not only dangerous it was not in God's will. Elimelek took his wife and two young sons to a land of plenty, prosperity and life. But there he died ... and so did his two sons. Naomi was left with two daughters-in-law with no income, no protection and no hope. When the Lord blessed Bethlehem again with rain, harvest and food, she went back. Orpah went back to Moab but Ruth made a profound covenant with Naomi stating she would always be faithful to her, and her people, and her God.
