Some fences are to keep things, animals and people in, while other times they are built to keep people, animals and things out. We all need to have a layer of protection around our lives and around our family.  Our children are vulnerable to the attack of the enemy and God has put parents in the place of protector, overseer, guardian and shepherd.  We must be aware of our surroundings and the potential danger that comes with education, friends, and media.  Jacob learned a hard lesson when he moved close to the city and his young daughter, Dinah, was raped by one of the young men of Schechem.
