Loosing something important is frustrating and can cause anxiety, worry and concern.  Especially when it is very valuable and does not belong to you. This student of the school of the prophets lost his axehead. Some people today may lose their temper, their reputation, their freedom, or their soul.  How can one go back and get what was lost and out of reach?  Only a miracle can restore the fallen axehead from the bottom of the river. The student turns to Elisha for help, not sure of what can be done. Today God today can also bring restoration, forgiveness, and salvation to those who turn to Him for redemption. Recognize what you have lost. Confess your mistakes and sins to the Lord.
