God has promised that Abraham's decendants would have a land of their own. After leaving Egypt, the people received the Law and Mount Sinai and then went toward the land of Canaan. However, when it was time to enter the land the people were fearful of the fortified cities, the giant soldiers and the power of the army. They refused to trust that God would give them victory. They looked to their own ability and knew they would fail and be defeated. Instead, they should have looked to the Lord and known that through Him they would overcome and receive what was promised to them.
